Texas Cardiology/Internal Medicine Hospital-based Rotation

Rotation Schedule

Start Time: Varies per day
Monday – Friday:

  • 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Pre-rounds on all patients
  • 9:00 AM – 3:00–4:00 PM: Team rounds on all service patients, discussions, assessments, and treatment plans
    Friday:
  • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Presbyterian Hospital & Cardiac Cath Centre
    Saturday/Sunday: Optional based on attending physician availability and student interest (not mandatory for LORs)
    Note: Times are subject to change based on the attending physician’s schedule.

Learning Opportunities

  • Participate in cardiology rounds in ICU, CCU, Intermediate Care, and general floors
  • Observe cardiac catheterization, stress testing, and internal medicine procedures
  • Receive hands-on training with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Attend didactics, lectures, and grand rounds as scheduled
  • Gain practical knowledge of:
    • History-taking and physical examination
    • Lab and radiology review
    • Formulating differential diagnoses and treatment plans
    • Daily patient follow-ups and discharge planning

Payment Policy

  • Secure your slot with either full or partial payment (50%)
  • Full payment is due 6 weeks before the start date
  • No rescheduling fee if done one month in advance
  • Cancellations:
    • 50% refund for cancellations made 4+ weeks before the start date
    • No refunds for cancellations within 4 weeks of the start date
